Pneumatic Conveying

Lean Phase pneumatically conveying (low pressure/high velocity) is usually considered totally unsuitable for pneumatic transfer of finished blends due to high segregation and degradation with cross contamination and difficult clean down.

Dense Phase pneumatic conveying (high pressure/low velocity) is more suitable for pneumatic transfer with reduced risk of segregation, degradation. However, cross contamination and difficult clean down are still major problems. In both forms of pneumatic conveying, the material is fed to a “buffer” hopper complete with filter. Therefore, all the risks of segregation due to flow patterns introduced when discharging to packing machines exists.
